What began as a live project at Royal College of Art has been brought to life by Elliot Rogosin and a dedicated team who turned their vision into reality. Inspired by Lambeth’s industrial heritage and London’s 19th-century sanitation innovations, the benches echo the form of fragmented ceramic pipes—inviting you to sit, gather, and reflect from a fresh perspective.
Crafted in our factory in Lancashire, each glazed tile pays homage to Victorian Lambeth pottery, blending digital fabrication with traditional craft.
“Darwen Terracotta, a wonderful collaborator who accepted a difficult challenge and embraced a great deal of experimentation. The aim of this project was to demonstrate the capabilities of ceramics as a structural material, and the wealth of knowledge and craft embedded in the expertise of the craftspeople at Darwen.”
