St Mary Magdalene's is a church of contrasts, a plain exterior concealing a richly decorated interior. When Dow Jones Architects designed the new community extension alongside it, they wanted to bring some of that interior quality to the outside world.

The solution was the church's own floor tiles. Dow Jones reinterpreted their motifs as a glazed terracotta frieze on the new building's façade, an invitation to passers-by to look closer and step inside.

We manufactured the glazed terracotta tiles for the project, each shaped to carry that pattern with the precision and decorative quality the design demanded.
