Darwen Terracotta Celebrates 10 Years of Preserving British Craftsmanship
2025 – This year, Darwen Terracotta proudly marks a decade since its founding, rising from the legacy of a historic British ceramics manufacturer to reignite a tradition of excellence that stretches back to the late 1800s.
From the outset, Darwen Terracotta was driven by a clear mission: to rescue, restore, and recreate the enduring beauty of terracotta architecture using traditional techniques, enhanced with modern precision. Over the past ten years, the company has grown into the UK’s largest architectural terracotta and faience manufacturer, trusted by architects, conservation bodies, and contractors across the country.
From Grade-listed heritage buildings to striking contemporary landmarks, Darwen Terracotta has played a key role in shaping and preserving the UK’s built environment. Jon Wilson, Co-founder and MD, reflects on the milestone:
“This anniversary is more than a celebration of 10 years in business—it’s a tribute to our customers, partners, and team members who’ve made it possible. From day one, we’ve been driven by passion: for materials, for heritage, and for doing things the right way. We’ve had the privilege of contributing to some truly remarkable projects that will stand for generations. Growing from our Lancashire base while staying true to traditional skills—and seeing our work exported around the world—is something we’re incredibly proud of. We’re especially grateful to our UK clients who’ve trusted us time and again over the past decade.”
As one of the last remaining British manufacturers dedicated solely to architectural terracotta, Darwen Terracotta continues to invest in skills, people, and materials that honour the past while building for the future. The anniversary was celebrated in an intimate setting, recognising the craftspersons behind every piece that carries the Darwen Terracotta legacy.
Here’s to the next ten years of craftsmanship, heritage, and architectural excellence.
