Floral Street

Location: Covent Garden, London, England
Architect:
Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates & Brimelow McSweeney Architects

  • Floral Street sits in the heart of Covent Garden, one of London's most visited and architecturally rich neighbourhoods. When developer Capco set out to transform it into a proper retail destination, the design for No. 11, conceived by KPF and delivered by Brimelow McSweeney Architects, called for something that could hold its own in that setting. Their answer was a bespoke faience façade, handmade by us here in Darwen.

The tile pattern was inspired by the building's own history: No. 11 was originally a seed warehouse, and the design draws on the texture and form of a seed pod, worked into a repeating motif that runs across the shopfront. It's the kind of detail that rewards a closer look. The project completed in 2018, serving as the European headquarters of Peloton.
